Vans x Nintendo

The brands pair up for AW16.

Negotiating the industry’s collective – and forthcoming – mood is a prominent element in the success of a collection, or indeed, a collaboration; the general consensus being that if you tap a nostalgic trend, you pretty much have a winner on your hands.

Enter then, Vans x Nintendo, an Autumn Winter hook up celebrating the early days of video games with some of the latter’s best graphics.

Like Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck before them, this new collection sees characters from the likes of Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Donkey Kong and Legend of Zelda draped across a selection of Vans’ most iconic silhouettes, while elsewhere cube prints maintain the 80’s aesthetic.

Made up of unisex, kids and female specific editions – as well as several pieces of apparel and a line of bags – the collection drops later this month and will be marked in London with an interactive exhibition at House of Vans complete with IRL consoles and big screen tournaments (here), open from tomorrow.
