Valerie: Jacquemus Resort 16

The LVMH tapped designer debuts resort.

The most recent object of Miley Cyrus’s sartorial desire (as penned by the singer in a recent V magazine feature), Simon Porte Jacquemus’ label this season introduces Resort to the fold.

The first offering from the French designer since picking up a surprise €150,000 runner’s up award at May’s LVMH prize giving (the top accolade left with Marques ‘ Almeida), the 20 look collection is a subtler display than previous efforts, and follows Jacquemus’ first Pre-Fall line-up, presented back in January.

Titled Valerie – a nod to the designer’s late mother – the look book, above, was shot at the family’s house in the south of France and boasts a further shake up of the label’s casting situation. While focus formerly fell on white youth predominantly, AW15 saw the addition of several models of colour; here the 43 year-old actress Joana Preiss plays muse.

Introduced alongside a strict uniform of pinstripes, shirting and asymmetric lines is a first look at Jacquemus accessories. Gone are the white socks and plimsolls that previously helped shape the label’s aesthetic (likewise disabled for AW15), instead Simon presents a suitably apt block heel and mismatched circle/square affair; elsewhere a bag – ‘Peinture’ – features.
