Closing London Fashion Week with a bang yesterday evening, Tommy Hilfiger hosted an experiential showcase for his new Autumn/Winter ’17 collection that fused the usual runway set-up with live music and entertainment.
Inspired by his well documented love affair with Rock and Roll, Hilfiger took over London’s iconic Roundhouse venue in Chalk Farm – which has historically hosted everyone from The Doors for their first British gig back in ’68, to hedonistic raves during the early 90s. Transformed into a circus ring of sorts, in this case the main attraction wasn’t rock stars – but supermodels, who’s contemporary fandom is fairly comparable.
Stealing the show, the full Hadid modelling clan – lead by poster girl for the brand Gigi, and quickly followed by siblings Bella and Anwar, lead a 64 look brigade of music-inspired fashion that straddled several genres. Set to a mostly old-school Hip Hop soundtrack, touchstones included grunge – with floral overlaid plaids, Heavy Metal – with twisted new ‘Tommy Tour’ Gigi Hadid graphics, and straight up English punk – as most looks were set off with silver padlock style neck chains.
Fusing both Tommy Hilfiger mainline, and a fresh run of the uber successful Tommy x Gigi collection, the whole spectacle was cleverly created in a see-now buy-now set up.
