N1 locals play dress up in Peter Werth.

Fans of Peter Werth and residents of Islington alike will be equally enchanted by the brand’s latest project which sees locals dressed in the label’s finest wears. Not just any Tom, Dick or Harry mind, the gentlemen in question range from David Richmond-the fishmonger featured above, shot by Dean Rogers at Steve Hatt Fish (which “makes Waitrose look like Captain Birdseye!” according to one customer Time Out questioned)-and David Duffy, the suited, booted and bespectacled technical manager at Little Angel Theatre.

Other names thrown in the mix-and featured in the video below-are boxer Julius F.E. Amoah, blogger Daniel Mehmet, Ali & Aydin Adkin of John’s Barber Shop and market stallholder David Twydell. Each serve a significant part in the continuation of N1’s cultured history, of which Peter Werth is a part too, setting up the label in Islington back in 1975. Early fans included a group of Northern Soul followers from Manchester, a group the label still has close ties to as January’s Nutters of Savile Row x Peter Werth ‘dance off’ suggests.  The track featured in the video is ‘Who Are You Trying To Fool’, another Northern Soul favourite from the 1970s.
