Sandro x Superga

The labels partner up for SS16.

Someone’s ears were obviously pricked last year; 14 months after Sandro Paris tapped the footwear market with a Reebok Classics hook up (here), the brand is partnering with Italian classic Superga.

Suitably sleek, the new SS16 line-up features three new interpretations of the brand’s iconic 2750 model, each designed by the French label’s creative directors Evelyne and Ilan Chetrite.

The tennis shoe, initially drawn up way back when by Walter Martiny, has been produced in three shades of cotton canvas for each of the sexes – white, navy and light blue denim for men, white, off-white and navy for women – the latter, pictured above, adorned with a blue, red or burgundy sole.

“I wanted to preserve the authenticity of this iconic model in giving it a fresh, colourful twist to suit our daytime wardrobe,” offers Evelyne of the women’s pieces. For his part, Ilan makes note of the vintage and laidback appeal behind the men’s shoe.
