Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello

The creative director makes his campaign debut.

Marking the latest era of Saint Laurent, today the French fashion house releases Anthony Vaccarello’s debut campaign.

Announced as Hedi Slimane’s successor just two months ago – the creative director’s first catwalk show will be at Paris Fashion Week in October – the two images above, along with three short Instagram videos, are the earliest signs of the Italian-Belgian designer’s new aesthetic for Saint Laurent.

Shot by American photographer Collier Schorr at the end of May in Paris, the full campaign features 15 of fashion’s newest faces (the remaining imagery will get its showcase on Monday), and upholds Slimane’s stance on monochrome while suggesting a cleaner visual.

Devoid here of any physical garments to sell, the campaign can be read as a beginning, much like the wiping of the label’s Instagram account following Slimane’s departure, felt like an end.
