River Island x Lou Dalton

The River Island Design Forum has a new signing.

River Island is on a roll: yesterday the high street heavyweight dropped the news of a womenswear hook up with Sibling (said to be inspired by Drew Barrymore, Brigitte Bardot and Ellen Von Unwerth’s photography – we’re envisaging an ode to Sister by Sibling SS14), today it’s gone and announced a new collaboration with menswear designer, Lou Dalton.

Part of the River Island Design Forum initiative (yes, the very same that has previously garnered collections from Christopher Shannon, James Long and Katie Eary), Dalton’s new SS16 collection will launch in early January.

“I’m a sucker for detail and finish and it was incredibly important that we tried to capture this throughout the capsule collection,” asserts Lou of her work with the brand. “Working with a such great company like River Island allowed us to deliver an end product that was a thoughtful eclectic range of clothing for that modern day fella.”

Comprised of 13 pieces, the line-up is said to draw on the working class and outdoor experiences; influences include the ‘Pony Kids’ photo book from Perry Ogden as well as Lynne Ramsay’s ‘Ratcatcher’ and ‘The Selfish Giant’ from director Clio Barnard.
