Opening Ceremony Taps Teva

The sandal label has new fans in Humberto Leon and Carol Lim.

Like the Birkenstock before it, the Teva sandal has been claimed by the fashion pack as one of its own. Several seasons of noted appearances in presentations and catwalk shows – shoutouts to Antipodium and Danielle Romeril – has seen its success move from the stylist’s moodboard to the street.

SS16 then, marks the brand’s third (!) collaboration with Opening Ceremony; creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon are obviously hardcore fans, a comfortable situation for any label to find itself in.

Pictured above in a typically striking state – props to Meredith Jens for shooting, Chiazzo’s Terri Chio and Adam Frezza for the set design, and director Benjamin Seroussi’s work on the accompanying film – this season sees the introduction of two new unisex styles: the OC Original Universal Rope and the OC Original Universal Mesh.

While the former taps mountaineering rope as a functional style feature, the latter is mimics Teva’s classic aesthetic with a minimal luxe remake. Elsewhere female socks and sandals fans have much to get hyped about, as SS15’s Flatform Universal makes a comeback in four new colourways.
