Markus Lupfer debuts leather collection for ASOS.
Markus Lupfer for ASOS

Type 'Markus Lupfer' into Google Images and you will find page after page of the pop art sequin knits for which he is famed; search Vimeo and you’ll come across the twee Tabitha Denholm-directed fashion films for which he is adored (by us). November sees something new from Markus Lupfer though, as he pairs with ASOS Black for a one off leather collection. Made up of dresses and jackets, trousers, skirts and shorts with a dashing of accessories too (think clutch bags and platform boots), the capsule range offers a mash up of Lupfer’s pre-AW12 and AW12 collections, with garment styles replicating the skater skirts and simple dress shapes seen in the latter collection. The ASOS Black selection is consumed solely with black leather adorned by blue, orange and charcoal prints, from all over decoration to neat patterns placed on hems, a la the pre-AW designs.

A first for Markus Lupfer-whose mainline is sold on the brand’s ecommerce site-the 10 piece collaboration is a mixture of hard and soft, the tough fabric and stand out biker jacket occupying the hard while the girly dresses and intricate prints give themselves over to the soft. The result, seen here, is a wonderfully modern impression of hippy era kaleidoscope patterns.
