LFW SS14: Sophia Webster

It's a bug's life for SS14 Sophia Webster.

‘I’ll bring you flowers in the pouring rain’ sang Katy B, reworking Sweet Female Attitude’s 2000 hit for Sophia Webster’s presentation yesterday afternoon. And a more fitting anthem you wouldn’t have found, given the space was full – to the brim! – of flowers, and just beyond the tent the heavens did open.

Held in The Secret Garden behind Topshop’s new space in Regent’s Park, the circular display saw models adopt Cindy Lou Who esc deely bopper hair dos, as they took on the role of insects sitting atop flowerbeds (literally, real bed frames).

Styled by Clash contributor Louby Mcloughlin, models were dressed ready for a sleepover in sheer negligees and bras (with cute stickers covering their modesty), plus cotton tees printed with heel matching patterns. Fluffy notebooks and a pink record player provided props, while in-between the 2 presentation rounds girls hid from the cold in fleece white blankets.

Alongside the Bug’s Life group, single shoes were dotted around the place hiding in smaller (real) flowerbeds. Each was a prime example of Webster’s signature playful design, this season incorporating clear plastic.

Rucksacks, heels and sandals were adorned with butterfly wings, flowers and ladybird spot,s while the most standout shoes ran up past the knee and battled three ‘sections’ of lacing.
