Le Coq Sportif x Town & Country

The pair's collab drops next week.

The world is a big place, and the market for new sportswear likewise mammoth. That French brand Le Coq Sportif has just hooked up with Hawaiian label Town & Country Surf Designs then, shouldn’t come as any surprise: sports labels are constantly tapping new arenas, plus hey, it is summer.

Dropping next Tuesday – the 21st – the new collaboration boasts a 90’s aesthetic and is comprised of two redesigns of the former’s LCS R800 model (an iconic running shoe from the aforementioned decade).

As well as contrasting check/pink and turquoise/purple colourways, the new design features a further note for the senses, as Le Coq Sportif nods to surf culture – or more specifically board wax – having come up with a coconut scent and incorporated it into the shoe’s outer sole. Wahey etc.

Landing in an exclusive line-up of contemporary sneaker stores – including London’s Footpatrol and SlamJam in Italy – the accompanying imagery pays homage to the release's strong surf element, having been shot on the south-west coast of France (a.k.a. a major European surf destination).

Expect to see a steady stream of LCS R800's if you make it to Fistral beach this summer.
