The French label returns to their 80s heyday.

Back in the day – circa the late 80s/early 90s – the likes of LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, wouldn’t have looked underdressed with a rooster logo across their chest.

Now in 2013, the French label le coq sportif (bearer of said crest), is hoping to repeat the old collection’s success with a new line up of key pieces.

Taking their inspiration directly from the dudes of the day – colours, styles, fabrics all remain – the label is releasing a limited collection of just 200 pieces, with a fancy Tumblr page to boot.

The Flash trainer, a running style found in the archives, has been recreated as the Flash le coq sportif x 24 Kilates, the latter part of its name in reference to the Barcelona shop, one of just a few stores worldwide selling the new collection.

Footpatrol, the brand’s London flagship store and Aberdeen’s Hanon will all be stocking the goods this side of the Channel.

From 7th November.
