With London Collections: Men just around the corner, we asked ten designers six burning questions (in our minds at least), and asked for a cheeky snap from their studio too. To our surprise-and great pleasure-they agreed.
Based in Peckham and with a pet dog called Pigeon, Kit Neale is our final designer preview prior to LC:M. We love him for his seriously snazzy prints and encouragement of Reebok Classics.
Why do you do what you do?
To make a living for myself.
What's your main inspiration for Spring Summer 14?
The inspiration for SS14 is a sense of adolescent adventure, think ‘Lord of the Flies’ meets ‘Son of Rambo’. A lot of the prints come from icons of childhood but with a new perspective; look out for the road map rug print of Peckham called Peckham Riviera.
Which piece from SS13/AW13 have you found yourself wearing the most?
It's got to be the Rockney Lobster trousers, they're just so much fun.
What track is most overplayed in your studio right now?
Hard to say, but any B52's track is always a winner.
Which other designers work are you most interested to see at LC:M and why?
I'm really interested to see what Craig Green does next, he's a great guy and apparently this season he's going colourful-exciting! It'll also be great to see Astrid Andersen's first solo show, she's amazing and one of the nicest people.
Who would you like to see wearing your clothes and why?
I don't care about anyone in particular wearing Kit Neale, the greatest pride is seeing it worn in the streets by someone I’ve never met. Although John Malkovich in Kit Neale would be pretty amazing.
Kit presents on Tuesday 18th June from 10:30.
