James Long For Topman In A Forest

Brand host winter forest party to launch collaboration with designer James Long.

Kicking off the first week of winter proper, last night Clash headed to an enchanted forest-or, erm, The Boiler House at The Old Truman Brewery-to toast James Long’s latest collaboration with Topman: knits knits knits!

Welcomed with tankards of hot cider, the indoor space turned outdoors, smothered in plants and with no sign of a ceiling. Guests sat around tables (piles of wood with a glass top, naturally) surrounded by cut out wooden toadstools and ‘JL’ signs or propped the bar, which was backed by neat squares of empty Rekorderlig bottles (tons better looking than the contents of your average recycling bin but of course).

Lulu Kennedy, Thelma Speirs, Lou Dalton and Princess Julia were all in attendance to support the Fashion East graduate, while Rihanna, Girls Aloud and Little Mix shook hands with Shakira and Cher by way of the evening’s disc jockey; Clash One to Watch NZCA/Lines was doing it for the boys.

Last but not least the evening’s grub was a delish mix of fried cheese, pasties, burgers and fish and chips, all sized XS for suitably stylish nibbling. Cocktails took on a whole new meaning with the likes of Amareko Sour and Svenska Mojito’s passing Clash lips-cider as a mixer anyone?

It was all enough to make you head for the nearest log cabin with a steady supply of gingerbread men, which funnily enough made it into the goodie bags (but not past the bus stop).

James Long for Topman launches Monday 12th November from www.topman.com
