Fashion Round Up: 18/10

Exhibitions, new additions and a business shake up.

2013 is disappearing faster than we care for; we’ve just counted 10 more Round Up’s ‘til 2014 and had a quick glance at the Christmas lights on Oxford Street (Christmas lights!). Still, the fashion clock ticks.

While our poster boy Pharrell Williams was busy getting married in a tartan get up (his bride did likewise, rumours suggest a Vivienne Westwood), exhibitions, new additions and a business shake up have been up there with the week’s headlines.

Away from Frieze London, an exhibition of photographer Corinne Day’s work opened this week at the Gimpel Fils gallery in London.

‘May the Circle Remain Unbroken’ sees the photographer’s early work displayed alongside music videos made by her husband, Mark Szaszy. The images depict the pair’s friends, primarily in their flat.

The exhibition is the latest in a series held at the gallery by Day, dating back to 2000. It is the second posthumous show – the first, in 2011, showcased images she’d taken for The Face – following her death in 2010.

A book of the same name has been published by Morel Books, edited by Skazsky.

Saint Laurent’s band campaign continues, with Hedi Slimane’s latest monochrome images of the LA based band, The Garden.

In the images band members wear a new shoe from the label, a unisex sneaker produced in a variety of colours and styles.

The first Court Classic (SL01) was designed by Slimane last year for his debut Saint Laurent Menswear collection; the latest drop offers a wider range, including both high tops and traditional low cuts.

And lastly Burberry’s business news; chief executive Angela Ahrendts is to leave the brand next year to become senior vice president for retail and online stores at Apple.

Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey will take her place, in addition to his current responsibilities.

The news came ahead of Wednesday’s White Lies gig at Village Underground – put on by Burberry to celebrate the release of the new fragrance Brit Rhythm – an event that it could be argued best showcased the pair’s work together.
