Fashion Round Up: 11/10

New lines and Scottish awards.

Autumn’s here, our coats are damp ‘cause we forgot our brollies and we’ve pulled out all those wooly bits from the back of our wardrobes. And did we mention we’re wearing coats?

As AW13 collections pile in (examples can be seen here and here), the news doing the rounds is that Mossy is back at Topshop and Whistles have a mens collection in the pipeline. Plus our northern neighbours have been celebrating their fashion favourites.

Three and a half years after her final collection for the brand, Kate Moss is set to partner with British retailer Topshop again for SS14.

Her previous lines for the brand were big hits – both in-store and on Ebay – and the new partnership will likely receive the same praise. Just how many collections the new collaboration will bring has yet to be confirmed.

‘Being Kate’ will see Moss team up with stylist Katy England, as well as the Topshop creative team including Creative Director Kate Phelan. It launches next April.

Womenswear label Whistles announced this week that they were adding a men’s line for AW14.

New designers have been appointed to work under Design Director Nick Passmore, while company CEO Jane Shepherdson has stated that the plan for a male counterpart collection has been underway from as early as 2008.

Like Topshop, Whistles is one of a handful of high street brands who’ve taken to the catwalk to preview new designs. It is unknown whether they will debut the new line at London Collections: Men in January.

And finally, Wednesday saw the Scottish Fashion Awards take place at the Grade 1 listed building, Dover House in London.

The 8th edition of the awards, it was the first time the ceremony had taken place in London, and was co-hosted by former Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore with awards founder Dr Tessa Hartmann

The most prominent award of the night, Scottish Designer of the Year, went to Christopher Kane while Pam Hogg picked up the award for Scottish Creative Excellence. Graduate Fashion Winner Lauren Smith added Scottish Graduate of the Year to her titles, and Scottish Fashion Innovator of the Year was awarded to Louise Gray.
