Craig Green – LC:M Preview

Craig listens to Daft Punk but would prefer System Of A Down.

With London Collections: Men just around the corner, we asked ten designers six burning questions (in our minds at least), and asked for a cheeky snap from their studio too. To our surprise-and great pleasure-they agreed.

Clash first profiled Craig Green ahead of his CSM MA show last year, since then he’s gone on to exhibit in Paris, be nominated for a Design award and gained the Other shop as a stockist. This season marks his second with MAN.

Why do you do what you do?
I'm not sure what else I can imagine myself, doing apart from maybe sculpture or painting; I feel fortunate to be able to do something I enjoy.

What’s your main inspiration for Spring Summer 14?
My SS14 collection is based around chaos in control and all ideas surrounding this.

Which piece from SS13/AW13 have you found yourself wearing the most?
The knitted hand linked denim and lambs wool beanie hat from AW13 in black.

What track is the most overplayed in your studio right now?
That annoying Daft Punk song-but not through choice, it just seems to be constantly on the radio. If through choice, it would probably be the entire Toxicity album by System Of A Down.

Which other designers work are you most interested to see at LC:M and why?
I'm excited to see Christopher Shannon, I was fortunate enough to work with Chris in the past and I have always admired what he does. Also excited to see what Astrid Andersen and Agi and Sam are going to do for their solo shows. Also want to see what new comer Alan Taylor will show at his first MAN show.

Who would you most like to see wearing your clothes?
I think its exciting when anyone wears something you've made or designed. Would be more than exciting to see my friend wearing what I make.

MAN presents on Sunday 16th June at 15:00.
