Champion: Absent Without Leave

The sports label collaborates with LAW for AW15.

It’s fair to say Champion is having a bit of a moment in 2015; already the brand partnered Danish label Wood Wood and teamed up with BabyFace, the girl power 2.0 two-piece collective who shot a bunch of their fave females in the label at Sketch’s dusty pink tearoom.

Now they’ve joined forces with LAW.

The magazine and creative agency from John Holt – elsewhere in charge of all things visual at Brutus Trimfit – LAW (Lives and Works) presents for AW15, ‘Absent Without Leave’.

Shot by Bafic, the London based campaign imagery pushes the youth culture tag claimed by Holt’s brand and exposes the contemporary awareness of the iconic NY sports label.

Here the ‘Reverse Weave’, first patented by Champion in 1938 and reintroduced last season, makes another comeback; produced in a heavy cotton, the knitted nature of the sweatshirt ensures durability, eliminates stretching and avoids vertical shrinking (which are all things, y’all).

Under LAW’s direction, the everyday – and for the most part pretty traditional – sportswear feels modern, the aesthetic fresh.
