“When Aries was first conceived, streetwear for women had disappeared,” the label’s co-founder, Sofia Prantera told Clash late last year (here). Together with Fergus Purcell, Prantera is now five seasons into bringing it back into the spotlight.
Via a combination of foil coated jersey, clever graphics and rough around the edges denim, the contemporary label is enjoying the type of attention traditionally awarded to the underground; Aries doesn’t shout so much as seduce.
And naturally, the menswear market now fancies a piece of the action, hence the introduction of a small capsule collection boasting ‘I survived Y2K’ backed tees and smashed phone fronted long sleeves.
Keeping it personal, because, well obvs, the five piece line is about to drop exclusively into the still pretty brand spanking new Palace store on London’s Brewer Street (Fergus is part of Lev’s core design crew), and online at Slam Jam Socialism (founded by Aries’ third party, Luca Benini).
