The press release states that neither brand enjoys the connotations of the word ‘collaboration’, which suggests that the pairing really is-for lack of a better word-organic, that is that either side actually enjoys working with the other and vice versa. Be it a clever marketing strategy or the real deal, A.P.C. and Carhartt Work In Progress have teamed up once again and Clash is only too happy.
Fusing the taste and simplicity of the upmarket French brand with the urban credentials and smart design of the US founded label, the latest range features a clean colour palette primarily made up of Hamilton brown, navy, white and grey, while details include red satin quilting and silver chain inner ‘hem’ (on the jacket), multiple pockets (on the jeans) and for the basic tees labels on the inside and out; branding is apparent but simultaneously discreet.
Launched with events both in Paris and London, the cross channel project-“Boat Mates” as A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou and Carhartt’s creative dirtector Arnaud Faeh call it-is their third outing together and looks set to gain similarly positive responses that welcomed the first two collections. An inadvertent nod to all things hip, unlike so many partnerships this one has unity on side.
