The use of 'real people' has long been done in the world of modeling-an oxymoron, surely?-and AllSaints is one brand whom regularly forgo agency lads and lasses for more distinctive persons. Admittedly the faces that make up their latest campaign-Portraits of a Collection-are all handsome creatures, but beyond their good looking exterior they are artists, sports people and musicians.
Matthew Hitt for example, is the lead singer of The Drowners (currently recording their debut EP in New York) while Casey Legler is an Olympic swimmer, (who also happens to be signed to Ford Models, controversially in the mens division); Sean Frank is a fashion filmmaker and photographer and Bon Duke is the co-founder of the New York Fashion Film Festival, who's also shot for Zac Posen and Proenza Schouler.
Talented bunch right? And these guys only make up a third of the campaign. Not only are they lending their pretty peepers to the brand, but also their time, as presentations of work produced exclusively for AllSaints will be shown later in the year.
The collection marks the second season from Creative Director Wil Beedle, and as he puts it Spring at AllSaints means "consciously evolved, refined and curated... These portraits document that evolution."
