The invite arrived for Agi & Sam’s Spring Summer 14 catwalk show, a postcard sized image of 84 year old Ali of the What Ali Wore blog (entry date 2nd May 2013).
As Clash arrived at Agi & Sam’s show, two owl heads with Agi & Sam for Topman bodies greeted us. One of these we can exclusively reveal was that of some time Clash journo, Jamie Carson.
When we took our seats we found a story by Charlie Porter in the place of a formal press release. And when Agi & Sam’s SS14 show finished, it was met by the loudest applause of the week.
‘Boris Said We Shouldn’t Do It. But We Did It Anyway.’ This was a collection that took its inspiration directly from London’s transport system, from the seat cover patterned suits to the ‘dotty pattern on the floor’.
While it’s these patterns for which much fuss has been made since the show, it was the use of singular colour that really grabbed us. And the short sleeved blazers and lyrca polo neck tops too.
Looks 24-27 were the least ‘Agi & Sam’ of the lot, a sea of cream replacing the brights we’ve come to expect (and which indeed we witnessed in many other looks). Also catching our eye were the gelled creations by TIGI, each individual comb-made scrape visible in the models hair.
For a Spring Summer collection there were a lot of coats, but coming in shades of light blue and orange, they were a clean representation of the season. 100% approved.
