Clash Guest Blog: Chess Club Records (DAY 5)
FRIDAY
We’ve come to our last day, how genuinely upsetting. Let's make it special with some of our tips for the next year or so.
Wave Machines
We have released two singles for exceptional Liverpoodlian pop geniuses
Wave Machines. I find it truly bizarre how they are not massive. Give it a few months and everyone will be talking about them as they release their debut album 'Wave If You’re Really There' on June 15th. It really is on another level when compared to similar bands of the genre.
Here is the amazing video for last Chess Club single 'I Go I Go I Go' and a download of 'Keep the Lights On'.

Now we’ve got a few tips for the future:
Azealia Banks

We listen to a lot of music here at Chess Club and even though we may not release the genre, it's always amazing when you find a hip-hop artist that is one step ahead of the rest. Recently it was Theophilus London (http://www.myspace.com/londonwave), now it's Azealia Banks...aka Miss BANK$. She is seventeen and from Harlem, NYC. She mashes sassy rhymes and bouncy electronic beats that make you want to put a middle finger up and start a party. Her complex, intelligent lyrics scream “pick me up Kanye and let me feat. pretty please!”
"Seventeen," sees her rapping over Ladytron beats:

Hot Feet

Hailing from Gloucestershire, Hot Feet take a more traditional approach to music than most people of their age. The calming voice of Marianne Parish weaved with their intricate, classical folk instrumentation creates a truly elegant and enchanting form of music. Despite being together less than a year they have already created a unique sound, a feat not to be taken lightly these days. A debut EP was released last year in their local record shop, the residents of Tetbury don’t know how lucky they are.
Evan Voytas

“Voytas dresses like your grandpa and sounds like the future”
Getting Higher is the leading track and massive summer anthem off the LA musical maestro’s new EP titled, ‘The New Dynamic Sound of Evan Voytas'. I had the pleasure of meeting Evan and was amazed by how he turned his hand to any musical genre, forming a sound that mixes synth and sunshine pop with funk bass lines and a sprinkle of Prince for good measure. His enthusiasm and openness to musical experimentation is similar to that of a young Beck. Whack on some shades and let yourself get carried away on the shimmering waves of Evan Voytas.
