God Bless E-Promos 26/03/09

The growing trend of e-promos instead of promo CDs means the usual laborious task (which I love to avoid) of putting a disc into a machine is now replaced by clicking a button. Its great. And because of it I have feasted above my usual diet of new music. To celebrate my aural gluttony, here is some of the best tracks I received this week. Honest, find them!

Mistabishi - Printer Jam
Its on his Myspace and racking up views as you read. Its daily office problems meeting zouk/dub-step.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Wallpaper. Dio remix)
I have longed to drop Passion Pit (Album preview HERE) into a DJ set without losing my tempo and finding it slightly difficult to mix out. So when remix champ Wallpaper decided to drop a fat quivering synth hook into the last minute (and a general extra dash of electro), I was pretty smitten. I'm not going to give you the Hype link, but it is there.

Young Fathers - Superpop
This Edinburgh based hip-hop trio (featured in LIVE REVIEW) are still in that delicate transition of leaving your normal life and actually becoming a sought after bunch of artists, who don't flee from student loans and play for beers. Swiping vocals over old school beats. Catch em while they are fluffy and innocent. And after 'Superpop', listen to previous release, 'Straight Back On It'.

Robert Miles - Children (HxdB)
I think I'm pretty late with this one. But if you thought Skream's 'In For The Kill' remix was the ultimate set closer, then this dub drenched re-work will suit your palette.

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (Deadmau5 remix)
Calvin tried to get trancey. And he did. And it sounds nice. But Deadmau5 (album review HERE) does make it sound a little better. Just a little.

Akira Kiteshi - Pinball
Another from Edinburgh. Its also more dub-step. The recent purchase of a sub-woofer has swayed my selections a bit today. Nothing like listening to dub-step whilst drinking a glass of water and slowly having to reach further and further for the glass. Am I vibrating away from the glass? Or the glass away from me? Who knows. This sounds too busy, and might put you off, but if you bear with it, it all make sense in the end. Unfortunately the only version online to my knowledge is a rip from Mary Anne Hobbs. You still get the jist though.
