Yellow Magic Orchestra Reform

Synth Pioneers For Meltdown

Synth pop pioneers Yellow Magic Orchestra are set to reform and play their first UK live date in 28 years next month at the Massive Attack curated festival Meltdown.

Yellow Magic Orchestra are one of the most influential group’s to ever come out of Japan – which, bearing in mind that nation’s pedigree, is saying something. Sparking a huge wave of ‘technopop’ in Japan, Yellow Magic Orchestra forever changed how Japanese groups would look, sound and operate.

After initially splitting up in 1983, Yellow Magic Orchestra reformed for a one off reunion in 1993 before getting back together on a more permanent basis last year. The group are set to play their first British show since 1980 at the Meltdown Festival.

Yellow Magic Orchestra played a very special concert at last year’s Live Earth event, on the Kyoto Stage. A spectacular performance was acclaimed by world media as the return of a very special talent.

Other acts confirmed for Meltdown are Massive Attack themselves, Gang Of Four, George Clinton, Stiff Little Fingers and The Tom Tom Club.

Yellow Magic Orchestra will play the following date:

June 15th – Meltdown Festival, Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall
