Formed in Chicago in the late 80s the music made by Tortoise frequently defies description. Existing on the boundaries of modern music, the band have proved that the post rock genre can produce flexible thought provoking material. Second album 'Millions Now Living Will Never Die' remains an important touchstone in American rock music but the band are still making music today. After two decades Tortoise have never gone back on their principles, and remain one of the most innovative groups making music today.
