Rising from their art rock origins Simple Minds became one of the biggest bands of the 80s, forming part of what was called "The Big Music". Their epic soundscapes marked them out as Scottish contemporaries of fellow celts U2, breaking through to the American mainstream with the hit single "Don't You Forget About Me" taken from the movie "The Breakfast Club".
