Emerging from the ashes of the seminal Velvet Underground, Lou Reed has fashioned an acclaimed and contrary solo career. Commercial highlight "Transformer" was sponsored by Bowie, before Reed then unleashed the bummed out classic "Berlin". Mid 70s feedback marathon "Metal Machine Music" nearly killed his career, but a return to form brought about a renaissance in his fortune's. Still making valuable music, Reed remains one of the most influential (and grumpy) men in music.
