Mercurial guitar icon, invents psychedelic rock by blasting the blues towards outer space. A former paratrooper he found fame as the darling of the flower children, releasing three albums as The Jimi Hendrix Experience. After his legendary improvisation on "The Star Spangled Banner" at Woodstock Hendrix formed his new group, Band of Gypsies, for a new R 'n' B based direction. Sadly, any further artistic development was curtailed by his death in 1970.
