On both sides of the Atlantic

Mumford & Sons are set to top charts on both sides of the Atlantic with their new album 'Babel'.

Released on Monday (September 24th) 'Babel' picks up exactly where Mumford & Sons left off. If you're a fan, this is definitely the stuff for you: all banjo pluckin', acoustic strummin' fun it finds the band on typically driving form. If you're not a fan, perhaps it's best to look away now...

'Babel' is set to hit number on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK, Mumford & Sons comfortably top the charts with 'Babel' surging ahead of nearest rivals Green Day. According to the Official Chart Company, the album has already shifted some 89,000 units at the half way mark of its first week. To give you a greater appreciation of just how enormous this is, The Killers' 'Battle Born' became the third fastest selling album of 2012 last weekend after selling 94 000 units across it's first week...

Our Stateside cousins aren't immune from the 'Babel' plague. Mumford & Sons have enjoyed enormous North American success, and Billboard reports that the band are almost certain to be number one on the latest countdown.

Industry experts believe that the band will sell more than 600,000 copies in their first week, an incredible total which comfortably eclipses the latest release from bowl-headed Canadian munchkin Justin Beiber.

The mid week UK Top Ten albums are:

1. Mumford & Sons - Babel

2. Green Day - Uno

3. The Killers - Battle Born

4. P!nk - The Truth About Love

5. Jonathan & Charlotte - Together

6. deadmau5 - Album Title Goes Here

7. The Script - Number Three

8. Emili Sande - Our Version Of Events

9. The xx - Coexist

10. Lucy Rose - Like I Used To
