Kaiser Chiefs Live

The boys are back in town

Taking to the stage at London’s Electric Ballroom, the Kaiser Chiefs have returned amid a storm of hype surrounding the release of their fourth studio album ‘The Future Is Medieval’. Greeted by a raucous applause from the audience, they open with ‘Everyday I Love You Less and Less’, and the atmosphere turns electric.

With the crowd primed and effusive, the Kaisers launch into their new single ‘Little Sparks’. Although the reception is a little muted, Ricky’s raw an unabashed enthusiasm radiates from the stage. Everyone soon picks up as chanting ensues over the chorus.

Kaiser Chiefs are a band well suited to a live setting. They manage to breath new vigour into their studio recordings to create an ever-expanding sound. Their ebullient demeanour sweeps everyone up, and before we know it, we’re bouncing along and punching the air with the rest of the happy faces around us.

Infusing new material with their crowd-pleasing classics keeps the momentum and energy levels high. What’s aired from ‘The Future Is Medieval’ shows definite potential, and it won’t be long until these songs become just as infectious as set staples ‘Ruby’ and ‘I Predict A Riot’.

With beer raining down on a crowd reaching fever pitch, the Kaisers close the night with ‘Oh My God’. As the crowd sings along and limbs flail throughout the venue, Ricky announces: “It feels good to be back in town.” And we can’t help but agree.
