Foo Fighters Go On Hiatus

But Dave Grohl isn't giving up on them...
Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl has confirmed that Foo Fighters have been placed on hiatus, but the singer is refusing to give up on the band.

Foo Fighters are one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. At a time when guitar groups seem to be in scarce supply, Foo Fighters have navigated the awkward currents of mainstream acclaim without becoming submerged in commercialism.

Earlier this year, though, Dave Grohl's onstage pronouncements seemed to become loaded with foreboding. Seeming to signal the end of the band, the singer told the crowd at a New York festival over the weekend: "this is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can ... I don't know when we're going to do it again."

MTV reported the statements, which quickly made their way around the globe. Fuelling speculation that Foo Fighters were to split up, Dave Grohl was forced to issue a statement clarifying the issue. Seemingly, the band have been placed on hiatus but Grohl has no intention of giving up on their future plans.

"I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world," he wrote in a message to fans. Presently, Dave Grohl is focussing his efforts on the Sound City documentary. In a statement the singer described the film as: “Sound City is a film about America’s greatest unsung recording studio. Deep in California’s sunburnt San Fernando Valley, tucked away behind the train tracks and dilapidated warehouses, it was the birthplace of legend. Sound City is a film about the truth, the craft, and the integrity of rock 'n' roll.“
