Inspired by a remote, abandoned Arctic mining village, Efterklang's new album 'Piramida' is perplexing, confounding, inspiring material.
As Clash writer Anna Wilson put it: "It possesses an air of resilience, of nature reasserting and returning to its inexorable processes."
Yet the process itself is almost as fascinating as the music. Using field recordings, odd sounds from the wilderness, Efterklang have been able to fuse a unique sense of atmosphere to their continually inventive songwriting. Clash flew out to Berlin earlier this year to catch up with the band, and - with 'Piramida' finally perched on record shelves across the country - we are proud to present a number of unseen images from their studio lair.
